Gada Biyu Market

About Plateau State > Markets in Jos Nigeria

The name Gada Biyu means two bridges. This place was given the name Gada Biyu because of two old colonial bridges that were constructed in that area many years ago when the British still ruled Nigeria under colonial rule (before the Nigerian independence of October 1960). Even though those two colonial bridges have been replaced a long time ago, the name Gada Biyu has already been established.

Today Gada Biyu has turned out to be a very significant market place for the citizens of the Jos Plateau in Nigeria. Located along Zaria road close to the popular Jos Polo club in Jos City. This is where you will find groceries, whole sale yams, whole sale Irish potatoes, and sweet potatoes, vegetables, local brew (beer) called Burukutu or BKT at the Kabong extension of the market, among other things.

Recently most of the yams brought from the rural areas for sale at the Dilimi/Gangare markets are now all brought to the Gada Biyu market as the new deport for yams in Jos. And the Gada Biyu area has gained even more significance recently because of the reconstructed and wider Zaria Road and the location of the first fly over (over head bridge) in Jos in the area.

Other important places close to the Gada Biyu market are; the Jos Polo Club and the Jos Polo field, Jankwano-Evangel Hospital, ECWA Bishara 2 Jenta, Saint Louise Collage, Mr. Biggs restaurant, Catholic Bishops House, Joseph Gomwalk House, Standard Building, Plateau Radio and Television Corporation (PRTV) Jos, Plateau State Educational Resource Center, French Center, veterinary hospital, petrol/gas stations, Rukuba road market, and many more in Jos the capital of Plateau State, Nigeria.
